Well hi there,
We’re painfully aware dating is weird, chaotic, and often a complete mess (hello—we built an entire app to combat just that!). But, when women are looking at the dating landscape and thinking monastic life sounds so much better, it’s time to reeeeeeally take a moment to look at what’s happening out there.
This week, we’re diving into the growing number of women ditching romance for convents (yes, really) and what that says about modern connection. Plus, where to find us IRL and a sneak peek at Necterine’s next evolution.
Let’s get into it.
xoxo,

HABIT SWAP
When Celibacy Leads to… Celibacy
When dating is harder than taking a vow of celibacy, something has gone terribly wrong. And yet, in the year of our Lord 2025, here we are.
Modern dating is a labyrinth of mixed signals, noncommittal texts, and the ever-present fear of being too much. And apparently, for some, the only way out is through a convent.
According to Cosmo, an increasing number of women are giving up on dating altogether and turning to religious life. Not because they had a lifelong calling but because dating in 2025 is exhausting enough to make a vow of celibacy sound relaxing. And honestly? We get it.
There’s something about modern romance—the ghosting, the breadcrumbing, the absolute lack of certainty—that makes a structured, commitment-free existence deeply appealing. Meanwhile, the rise of trad culture, fueled by figures like our I-make-gum-from-scratch-for-my-insanely-hot-husband queen Nara Smith, is painting an alternate path: hyper-traditional relationships as a reaction to the chaos of modern dating. And look, if that’s your thing, cool. But these should be choices—not a last resort born out of frustration.
Romance shouldn't feel like an endless series of tests with no right answers. The sheer mental gymnastics required to decode a “hey” text could power a small city. And when the alternative is a peaceful, commitment-free life where no one ever leaves you on read… well, it starts to make sense.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Dating should be fun, engaging, and (hot take) actually fulfilling. That’s why we’re here, to make dating suck less. No monasteries required.
I can’t believe we’re asking but…👇👇👇
Are you swapping your lingerie for a nun's habit?

COME MEET US AT THE SILVERLAKE FLEA MARKET
Dating might be digital, but let’s not pretend real life doesn’t still have its moments. That’s why we’re bringing Necterine offline and into the wild—aka the Silverlake Flea Market—where you can get some real-time dating insight and maybe, just maybe, meet someone over a shared appreciation for overpriced vintage denim.
Need a pep talk? A reality check? A hard “no, don’t text him back”? We got you. We’ll also be casually observing the dating dynamics of the flea market crowd and offering our unfiltered commentary.

ONE FINAL THING
Did you get a haircut? Something’s different
In the land of lunchtime facelifts, we couldn’t help ourselves.
Our new app update is LIVE, and it’s looking very good. Shout out to our incredible engineers and designers who created an app that’s gorgeous, intuitive, and built for people who want more than just a dopamine rush from matching with someone they’ll never talk to.
We’re continually adding new features that make dating feel less like a competitive sport and more like an experience—one where you actually learn about yourself, where you get to see what works, and where the process of finding someone doesn’t feel like you’re trapped in a nihilistic loop of ghosting and disappointment.
Because dating shouldn’t be harder than joining a convent, and with Necterine, it won’t be.
As always, we’re rooting for you!
